AI Tokens work across all integrated apps.
Do I need to build billing or auth myself?
No. Setapp validates user subscriptions, checks AI Token balances, and handles all billing through the platform. You use the user's existing Setapp token as the API credential — there's nothing to build or maintain on your end. Payouts are handled automatically through MacPaw Wallet. How compatible is this with my existing OpenAI integration?
Fully compatible. Setapp AI Gateway provides an OpenAI-compatible API layer, so you can use an OpenAI-style integration while routing requests through Setapp’s gateway instead of a direct provider endpoint.

In most cases, integration only requires updating the base URL, using your Setapp token, and specifying the model with a provider prefix — for example, anthropic/claude-.... The gateway reads the prefix, routes the request to the right provider, and returns the response in a compatible format.This lets you access OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, xAI, and other providers through one unified API with minimal integration changes.
